Texas pharmacy law
What is the minimum age requirement for purchasing an OTC product containing pseudoephedrine in Texas?
Texas requires that the purchaser of a product containing ephedrine, pseudoephedrine, or phenylpropanolamine be at least 16 years old.
Federal pharmacy law
A patient just home from the hospital with a broken leg can't come to the pharmacy to pick up a Schedule II prescription that's already on file. They ask whether the pharmacy can mail it to their house. How should the pharmacist respond?
Federal rules allow pharmacies to mail controlled substances, including Schedule II, to the patient when packaging and shipping requirements are met. The drug name must not be shown on the outer package.
